Let me just say...
May. 27th, 2008 11:47 pmToday? Was an adventure. And not one I care to repeat.
Got to the airport about 9am, said goodbyes to people and got to my check-in counter. I went ahead and put myself on standby for an earlier flight because I really wasn't good with staying in the airport all day.
Well, I didn't get on the first flight after getting there, so I got something to eat and headed over to the other terminal to hang out with Shai. Got there, literally five minutes before she boarded. Said goodbye again and headed back over to my terminal.
The 12:30p flight rolls around and YAY! I get a standby! ...but then, the flight is delayed because of rain. And delayed some more. And then just a little more...
By the time we got on the plane and got out of there, it was nearly 5pm. Which, ironically enough, was the time of my original flight. I get to O'Hare and crash in the gate waiting area that one of the EMPLOYEES OF THE AIRLINE told me was where my flight had been moved to. I was kind of dozing, noticed the time and went 'Hey, why haven't we boarded' only to be told that my flight was in the next gate over!
I rush over there, only to get a dirty look from the ticket girl and another took me out to the plane, which they were starting to close the door to. Uneventful flight home, but when I get to my final destination... my bag wasn't in the baggage claim. So, by this point, I'm understandably upset and ready to cry. The guy at the counter checks my name, taps a few keys and goes into the back room and then comes back.
With my bag. Which not only made it to Lincoln before me, but actually MADE IT OUT OF DALLAS BEFORE ME.
...yep, I'm done.
PS to Shai: Maybe we can hold the D*C reservation until the end of June? Just to see if any interesting guests confirm attending? October in Dallas is still on though.
