So, I caught a bat today.
Feb. 7th, 2009 09:54 pmNo, seriously. When I got to work, I was the first one there (besides the guys who own the building/company), and just went to the basement to get supplies and then straight to the second floor.
My aunt, who also works with me, started gathering the boxes that were trash in order to put them on the elevator. At some point, she got ink on her hands and went to wash them. She said that she 'noticed something in the sink and thought it was a leaf or a paper towel', ignored it and got soap from the dispenser. When she went to turn on the water, it moved and she realized it was a bat. She told our boss and the ownerguys.
Owner guys wanted our boss to get it, he said no. They asked if my aunt could get it, boss said no.
They were going to put a box over the sink and leave the bat there for their maintainance guy to KILL on Monday.
Cue me getting pissy, because why should a defenseless bat that was smaller than my cellphone be killed just because all the men are pissy and afraid they (or an employee that would file a workman's comp claim) would get bit.
So I, against my boss' wishes, used a small box and a file folder and got the bat out with some careful maneuvering. (Because they all freaked when I grabbed several paper towels and was just going to pick it up!) I took it outside and put it in a tree and it flew away. (Dumbass pussies wanted me to THROW IT IN THE STREET.)
Then the day got a little better. Reno has a new house. I have some new pretty shirts in bright colors. Going to see my GranJo tomorrow and check out Dad's new house.
Now, I just need to come into about $5,000 more. Not that I can't make the move now, but with 5K more, I can buy a place that I really like instead of one that will just 'work for now'.
