So. I am most likely being written up at work.

For using correct capitalization and punctuation.

Yes. For that.

We recieved a message in our 'checkup' files last week (some new shit they started) that all messages were to be taken in ALL CAPS, because it looks more professional. I got a message in my account from the managers for not doing that.

I just sent off a message saying "I fail to see what is unprofessional about using proper punctuation and capitalization. Personally, I feel that using all caps in a business setting is unprofessional, and if I were to do that in any other business office, I would be told to redo my work."

I think I'll put that on all the apps I fill out. "Was written up weekly for using correct punctuation and capitalization." See how well that goes over.

WTF? Are they reading from the Fucknuts Manual of Style? Because really, USING ALL CAPS IS HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND SHOWS A LOW LEVEL OF NETIQUETTE AND NET LITERACY. IT IS YELLING. But you know that!

What total morons!

Hypothesis: someone who reviews them is somewhat hard of seeing and decided that, to make their job easier, it should be all-caps.

Instead of, you know, decreasing screen res or increasing font sizes.

Because that's hard.

What they really say is that it is less confusing for the client to read if it is all in caps as alot of the girls can not seem to use correct punctuation and capitalization. Sharon said this is the way her girls do it also. I agree with you.

GAH. I HAVE TO SAY, THIS SOUNDS LIKE A LIKELY REASON. THEY HAVE WORKERS AND MANAGEMENT WHO CAN'T GET IT RIGHT, SO WHY TRY? YAY FOR LOW LITERACY STANDARDS. OF COURSE, IT DOESN'T REALLY SOLVE THE PROBLEM AS THEY'D STILL BE MESSING UP THE SPELLING AND PUNCTUATION.

THE OBVIOUS ANSWER IS THAT EVERYTHING MUST NOW BE TYPED UP IN PHONE TEXTING LANGUAGE.

*DEATH*

I was going to type something up in 1337 speak or whatever it's called, but honestly? The above was painful enough. At least people in my office get me to proof-read important documents so that I don't stab them with my red pen.

I agree with you and it is hard to get used to doing. As I am looking for a different job I will put up with it til I am gone. So now we have to say please and thank you for every question we ask and yes if we do not do the caps and the please and thank we get wrote up. It sucks.
