D'oh! Oh well. :) I'm sure there'll be a glut of secondhand editions floating around or someone else on my flist will be getting rid of theirs. Sims 2 looked pretty awesome, I have no idea what Sims 3 is like. What's the new stuff for that, other than graphics?
One of the major changes is that people will be able to move their sims around the neighborhood without having to safe and log out of a lot. Another is more control over facial and physical features of the sims, houses and objects. It's explained a lot better here.
