Okay, the car.

This is about to get technical.
First, my front passenger tire was worn down to the second set of steel belts and had a serious twist in it. Dad wondered how the hell I was still driving on it. So, he and another guy pulled two really good, practically brand new tires off this car in the back of the lot. So now I have two excellant tires on the front end, a damn good spare and rear tires, and my donut.
Then it was time to fix the U-Joint, which was out on the right side. Unfortunately, with my car, you can't just replace the U-Joint, you have to replace the whole axle. And what was suppossed to be a 40 minute job, turned into a 2 hour job.
First, whoever worked on the right side before seriously fucked up. There is a bolt that holds the balljoint in place, and there is a notch in both the bolt and the hole it goes in. The person that did it last time didn't line up the notches, and then beat the bolt into place with something. Then they stripped the bolt. It took an hour and half to get get it out.
And then my right axle came out. In pieces. Seriously. The end nearest the tire was burnt all to hell, and the end nearest the transmission had split. Dad had to reach in and pull it out with pliers. >.<
So, got that finished and then I changed my oil. Figured out why I had a minor oil leak. Last time I changed it, the gasket had fallen off the plug to the pan, and no one told me. So I put it back in -without- the gasket. >.< So now I know for next time.
All that's left is for me to drain the radiator sometime this week so I can put coolant in it. All the adding of water from when the heater coil was leaking left it REALLY low on antifreeze/coolant.
With the exception of the coolant problem, I'm ready to go to Dallas.
