I'm sorry, Will. I know I dumped a lot of shit on you last night and then said I would be over it this morning, but apparently I'm not. I think maybe it's best if I just stay away from chat and everything for a day or two and focus on finishing this first week of training. I can't deal with the shit online and my job at the same time.
That said, I need to say something else.
I know I said I was cool with it, I'm not. There's something very upsetting and angering about coming home to find out that someone has basically set up your pup's future without asking you. A pup that you created and spent the last year building up to make more than a two dimensional character. That they couldn't wait a few hours for you to get home from work before making a pup that says 'This Happened' without your input or say so, hurts. This is the second time it's happened with a situation like this.
It's even worse because you spent your entire lunch break fleshing out a bio and character line, only to have to throw it away because you can't make the character anymore. And if you say 'no, I don't want this to happen' it fucks up the threads and storylines and canon and stuff that was established in the mere four hours you were gone.
It sucks. And all I can say is I am very glad it wasn't Jason's kid that was made because I would have packed up my characters and quit instead of spending half the night fighting the urge to hit something and cry. I resent knowing that if I had done this to someone else's chars without asking, seven kinds of hell would have been raised and I would have been expected to retcon it or claim it was AU. Yet, when it's done to me, I'm supposed to be happy and bouncy and go 'how cute' and play along.
I'm feeling more and more like I just need to switch my pups to NPC status and let people do what they want with them because they're obviously more fun when I'm not the one behind the wheel.

Date: 2006-05-19 12:26 am (UTC)I don't think you need to shelve your characters because someone moved forward with an idea without running it by you first.

Eeeh- if it happened to me that somebody made a pup associated with my pups I'd blink and nod and go forward with it- like I did with about a quarter of Twin Peaks turning up on the Nexus over a week. If I couldn't adapt, I'd approach the other player.
But no expectations of AU or retcon on my part- and of course, it'd depend on who that player was some, too. If it were anybody who's commented on this post- or to whom the post was addressed, or who wrote the inital post? I'd be OK with it.

Date: 2006-05-19 07:59 am (UTC)Next time, also, please let me know the second that something I've done has caused you to feel this way. I hope I don't come off as the sort of person who would pull something like this with the intent of hurting you.

Date: 2006-05-19 08:10 am (UTC)And I'm sorry I snapped the way I did. I had finally fixed him so that he worked and then I was getting asked to fix him again and it hit a still raw nerve.

Date: 2006-05-19 08:51 am (UTC)He's your character. If you want to leave him as Sin and Zane's, I don't mind. Chris isn't even made yet and I can change him where needed without screwing things up.

Date: 2006-05-19 08:58 am (UTC)I'm sorry we didn't talk before all this happened. I didn't hear anything about it, and assumed everything was ok, which was dumb of me. Maybe in the future we can hang out in our room in IRC more and have better communication.
Chris is fine, don't change him.

Date: 2006-05-19 09:15 am (UTC)And like I said, I was at work. I forgot my phone and was running late, so I couldn't come back to get it.
And yeah, we do need better communication because I've been trying to figure out how Eire and Cory are the youngest at 17, but Rhos and Suzy are still in high school with Harley in between somewhere...

Date: 2006-05-19 09:27 am (UTC)Well, Suzy would be at school...but if she's older than 17, she'd be a graduated adult. (Assuming Durmstrang follows the same sort of format.) Heck, she's as old as/older than Tam like this! I don't mind making Cory a bit younger, but we should have a chat with all of us (+Lee) to finagle this. Also, Harley rocks.
Hocrap. I now realize I have to make OOC icons for everybody!

Date: 2006-05-19 09:31 am (UTC)Yes, if we could pull everyone down a year or two. And Chris could be three... that way all the babysitters are disappearing to college just as he's entering kindergarten.
And Lee works today, and won't be home until after I leave. Upside, It's Friday, so I don't have to work tomorrow. So it'll be a late night talk I guess. And I think at one point she had Eire as 15 or 16... can't remember. Not to mention that the birthdates go Eire-June, Harley-Sept, Cory-May.

Date: 2006-05-19 09:38 am (UTC)Heh, well, he's so a Taurus. I think Rhos and Ella had both been established as being older so it pulled everyone up...but then again their older anyway, so I don't think spreading the others out should be an issue. 15's doable for Cory. His PB looks young anyway.
LOTS OF NEW PERISH, BTW (http://www.modelmayhem.com/pics.php?id=1262)
