Kitten Stuck in Drainage Piped Sucked To Safety By Plumber
The kitten was stuck several feet down in the open drainage pipe since Saturday. (NBC News) From NBC News:
A kitten was rescued from a drainage pipe at an Columbus, Ohio auto shop, but the rescue was no easy task.
Meowing haunted Zeibart Auto Shop employee Matt Michaelis for days, beginning over the weekend.
"We kept hearing a meow, so we looked down (the pipe). We couldn't see it, so we brought a light out, pushed the light down in there and we seen this head stick up, this little kitten head," Michaelis said.
The kitten was stuck several feet down in the open drainage pipe since Saturday.
Workers called a rescue agency for help, but didn't receive an answer.
So Tuesday night, they took the rescue into their own hands.
"We just got digging," he said.
But it wasn't enough.
Soon, the Capital Area Humane Society would arrive, but that didn't help either.
An agent flagged down a plumbing company, hoping for help.
The Roto Rooter's excavation supervisor, Kevin Adkins, said he knew how far the uses of his septic tank vacuum could reach.
"I just took the hose and attached it to the back of the truck," he said.
"He went down in there with the tube and grabbed it and pulled it right up out of there," Michaelis said.
The kitten is now recovering and the home she was stuck in for days is now just a few feet away from her new house at the auto shop.
"They looked at it and said I can come pick it up today," Michaelis said.
