LIGHTNING FRIED MY MODEM!

No shit, it's true. This is the same issue I've had twice before, with this SAME BRAND OF MODEM, yet Qwest kept replacing it with the same thing.

So, tonight, while I'm talking to the tech (Must have been a level one. Why do I always get level ones? Can't I get a frequent caller option to speak with a level two or three?) and he starts having me do a power cycle...

Me: Did it. Three times.

Tech: Oh... you unplugged it and left it unplugged for fifteen minutes before plugging it back in?

Me: Yes. Three times. DSL light is still flashing, internet light is dark.

Tech: Can you find the sticker on the side of the modem and read me the mo-

Me: 2Wire 2700 HG D.

Tech: Okay. Let me do some line checks.

Me: This happened before, twice. I'm on my third modem.

Tech: Really? May I put you on hold for a moment? *Hooooooooooooooooooold* Well, this modem is prone to failure after power surges. We'll just upgrade you. You should recieve it either tomorrow or Thursday morning.

Me: Cool!

So, I'm stealing bandwith again.
