See there's been a rather....hilariously heated debate going on in my family lately. It's Greg and I vs. my brother Will. He's been claiming that some rock/alternative groups are actually Christian Rock Bands in Hiding (henceforth known as CRBiH).
For instance, Godsmack is using the whole wiccan thing as a front, and Evanescence is encouraging us all to find God.
I've countered that if them talking about religion and God, or a god, is proof of them being a CRBiH, then he better include Disturbed and Genitorturers on that list. Hell, toss Marilyn Manson in there too.
Lately, he's been tossing in Adema on his side. Well, the new album just came out.....
See, Greg got the CD last night, and brought it over for me to listen too. While I was kicking his ass on Mortal Kombat, Will showed up and the whole argument started up again. So Greg showed him the new CD cover, and asked him how it could possibly be a cover that a CRBiH would choose.
Willie: It's showing how they're bound by the rules and ideals of society and the record company.
Greg: I just think it means they're into bondage.
Willie: No, they're a Christian Band.
Me: (finally starting to pay attention to the convo) Wait. If Adema is a Christian Band, and Christians are into bondage, does this mean Jesus got off when he was tied up on the cross?
There was silence, then Greg busted up laughing, followed by Will glaring at me and saying how 'he could never have a serious conversation with me'. He stormed out, and told Di how I couldn't take anything seriously and I needed to grow up, and that he wasn't speaking to me until I matured a little.
Wonder if that will work with my Dad and Sue. *g*
