I'm seriously considering BUILDING my own damn laptop rather than buying one from Best Buy.
Or, I could do both. The shiny Vista machine will be called 'Flyboy'. The home built laptop with Ubuntu will be called 'Cloneboy'.
Yeah, only a few people are going to get that.

Don't go to Best Buy - hit Wally. They have/had an Acer laptop for under $500. Nice 17 inch display & super DVD drive. (Plus, the Wally warranty - pretty much no questions asked, just make you happy.) Had excellent luck w/ my HP laptop warranty through Sam's Club.
